CLASSIC ELEGANCE | VIRGINIA ESTATE WEDDING

real wedding, wedding

Happy Anniversary to one of the sweetest couples I know. I’ve known Philip and Julie since they were young and in love at Virginia Tech, almost six years ago! They love food and enjoy spending time with their fur baby, Oille, and watching K-dramas together.

April weather in Virginia is unpredictable, one day it can be 80 degrees, the sun blazing or it can be freezing cold and snow is falling. For Philip and Julie’s wedding, let’s say we had to wear our winter coats due to the high winds and frigid temperatures. Their trusted planners were confident and reassured Julie and Philip, no guessing game on the unpredictable weather for their wedding. No detail goes missed! We have a Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C with every intention to understand Philip and Julie’s wishes genuinely.

The color palette for Philip and Julie was sage green, black, ivory, and gold.
Sage was chosen because it looks great on any type of skin tone, and Julie’s style is elegant and minimalist. That is exactly how we created her design for their wedding day.

One of the Korean traditions is doing a paebeak ceremony, The paebaek (폐백) is an ancient Korean wedding tradition intended for the bride to pay her respects to the groom’s family. In this process, she is officially accepted into the groom’s family. The bowing in the ceremony process represents her responsibility and devotion to her new family. However, in modern times, the paebeak ceremony signifies the unity of two families.

During the paebaek, dates, and chestnuts are given to the bride. The bride and groom will visit his family’s home to gift the nuts and fruit. The dates and chestnuts are a Korean representation of the bride’s fertility. According to legend, the number of dates and chestnuts caught signifies how many children they will bear in the future. The chestnuts represent boys and the dates represent girls. As a public display of the groom’s strength and happiness, he piggybacks his bride around the table which concludes the Paebaek ceremony.

My favorite part of the evening is when all of their closest friends and family gathered around the dance floor and sang their hearts out to Mr. and Mrs. as they said their farewells to each other. What made this wedding so unbelievably special was the genuine love for Philip and Julie, their guests traveled across the country, Austria, and even Korea to be a part of their special day.
